With SxSW right around the corner, I'm getting stoked for three things; our pimp-ass dFm events, BBQ meats, and rock music. This, right here, is my Rock Music Roundup, my top Rock songs not to be missed in Austin by bands Turf War, Yuck, and Hunters.
"A Little Harder This Time" by Turf War. They've got a little Springsteen and Rancid their bones and a ton of drunken antics in their blood. This is the kind of song that could stop a bar fight in it's tracks or make you offer your ex a ride home in your flat-bed...for just one night.
"Operation" by Yuck. Feels like that rock song I had in my head on the way home from middle-school but forgot to write down because Save By The Bell came on, but in reality it doesn't sound anything like that. Yuck is like four bandmates shredding in any way that makes them happiest. It's an infectious, comfortable, and identity affirming...find them in Austin.
"Brat Mouth" by Hunters. What gets me the most pumped about this track is the unexpected blend from sludgy Melvinsesque rhythms to dancing 70's punk vocals (and the guitar trucking hard under chick's voice is pretty epic too). Good chance you'll find these guys at our W event. Head-banging is encouraged; bonus points if you get a picture of Kanye in the mosh-pit, King-Status if Kanye gives you a fat-lip.
