oliver stone gets his politics on...
one of my favorite directors of all time heads down to columbia in hopes of helping out with a hostage situation.
screenwriter of scarface and director of wall street and jfk (i don't care much for his recent flicks though) may be trying to do his best charlie wilson impression.
obviously charlie wilson WAS a politician so there's a difference but i liken the two for their partying/controversies plus their behind the scene foreign political clouts/negotiating skills. forget the squares in the gov....
just saw charlie wilson's war the other day and loved it. go see it.

some real quotes
i'm not a big literature person (nor a scholar of any sort) BUT i do enjoy one liners / quotes from various folks.
i just happened to stumble upon a great oscar wilde quote from a forbes.com article
Pleasure is the only thing to live for. Nothing ages like happiness.
i definitely agree with the above sentiment so i thought i'd look up a few more quotes from the irish poet/celebrity of his generation.
"Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much."
"What is a cynic? A man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing."
"The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about."
"Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation."

a nice key chain from tiffany & co + a framed photo of our dF ice sculpture! big thaaaanks to julie, matt and joey for everything this past year + their efforts/willingness in working with my crazy ass. we're all just gettin started.... 08 you puntas!

family vacation to vegas
since chicago's been having a cold ass winter (no surprise there), my parents thought that it'd be best if the fam all got together in las vegas for the holidays. that meant my sister came out to LA a few days prior and drove out to vegas with me while our p's flew in from chi. of the dozen or so times i've been to vegas, this is the third time i drove there and i HATED it. traffic both ways... not looking to do this again anytime soon.
but i certainly couldn't complain about our rooms; first time i stayed at caesar's palace (in their new tower) and it was as nice as the wynn and/or venetian; flat screens in the rooms and bathrooms plus a jet tub and a dope shower... we also ate a ton (spago was one of my fav. spots) and bought each other some gifts.

dF dinner at dan tana's
one of my favorite things to do in life is eating (i love all kinds of food/spots) and one of my favorite restaurants in LA is dan tana's
for those that don't know, dan tana's has been around for over 40 years (west hollywood) and it's one of those old school italian restaurants where the anti-perez hilton types enjoy real food (from george clooney to the lakers owner jerry buss).
anyways, last thursday the dF crew made a dent in their corner booth while chowing down everything; fried calamaris, anti-pasto plates, clams, veal, lasagna, fettucini, scallops, linguini, garlic bread, dessert, wine, ....etc. i'm pretty sure we're doing another dinner there sooner than later.
two booths down was jonah hill and his boys racking up the food bill.
lara and julie also claim that the group of other dudes that left right before we sat down were ryan philippe and his boys but he can't be that short. oh well. anyways, enjoy a couple of flicks that joey took from the dinner...

some old drunk dude (he eventually fell off the bar stoop later in the evening) gave lara and julie flowers

a pretty nice end of the year bonus...
lloyd blankfein, ceo of goldman sachs (and #3 on fortune's power 25 list), took home a record $68m bonus. from what little i know about investment banking, i've read/heard that it is blankfein's leadership that prevented goldman sachs from doing better than expected; rather than losing a ton like their competitors.
i thought i had a good chunk of change as i prepare for a vacation with my folks in vegas... definitely nowhere near what this guy's taking home.

black and white
i walked into the office today and saw that i had a package from amazon.com and as much as i love buying luxury goods, one of my favorite things to do is buying dvd's online. since i moved to a new place a couple of months ago and hooked up a nice set up in the living room, i've been picking up every movie i've always liked (i only buy dvd's of movies i've already seen more than once).
of all movies, one that i couldn't find anywhere (except online) is black and white. to me, it's one of the underrated flicks from the past 10 years. it features an all star cast of robert downey jr, brooke shields, bijou phillips, ben stiller, allen houston, jared leto, claudia schiffer, rakwon, method man, brett rattner, elijah wood, ...etc and of course, mike tyson.
i don't want to spoil it for those who haven't see it but go pick it up... good mix of nyc hustle, race shit and great cameos.

a pretty big deal in the agency/marketing world.

launch of handbag-lab.com
![]()
Los Angeles, CA (December 10, 2007)
Handbag Lab, Inc. launched in February 2007 and is based in Los Angeles, CA. The company’s founders are Amy Grabisch and Claudio Maike, who identified the need in the market for customizable leather handbags and developed a user-friendly online environment for customers to create their own unique product.
At www.handbag-lab.com, we have assembled a one-stop-shop for creating your own customized handbag completely online. Site users are guaranteed a simple process from start to finish, utilizing the website infrastructure to easily manipulate your design, and select new ones. Once the handbag has been created and the checkout is complete, the order will be processed and delivered to your door in 3-4 weeks.
The site will be made up of 190+ possible handbag combinations, where the user will begin the customization process with a selection of one of eight designs. The site is set up to allow the user to make 3 selections from style, color of leather and the hardware finish.
Handbag Lab, Inc is made up of 2 divisions:
(1) [H] LAB, the wholesale division, is a premium leather handbag collection, with 20 styles. Our target customer is the 18-44 year old woman. She views her bag as a status symbol, and values durability, style, and functionality and shops primarily at specialty stores as they usually carry the more cutting edge exclusive designers. The [H] LAB lady is educated, high income earning, and is willing to spend a little bit more on a quality handbag.
(2) Handbag-lab.com is a one-stop shop website/e-commerce solution, where you can come into the infinite world of combinations, and make a bag that is truly unique and your own. The process of creation, to check out and sharing your bag with a friend should seamlessly navigate throughout the website, and in the end, you will come home from work a few weeks later to a beautiful new bag waiting for you.
For more information, contact Amy Grabisch (amy@handbag-lab.com)

there's only one mayweather...
boxing's been losing some of its fans (including myself) to UFC over the past couple of years but if there is one man that's making it fun to follow again, it is pretty boy floyd aka money mayweather. plus the 24/7 series on HBO (including the ones from the de la hoya fight) definitely helps create excitement for the mayweather bouts.
anyways, money may knocked out ricky fatton (hatton) in the 10th round and shut up the rowdy UK crowd in vegas. can't wait to watch the fight on HBO next week... there's only one may weather...

i can't tell if this is funny or funny (if you don't get it, ohhh well)
this chubby 14 yr old kid is supposedly cooler than you. hmmm... it kind of shows how retarded a "scene" could be. am i the only one who's annoyed with these jobless "multi-taskering hustlers" who blog about irrelevant stuff and are too cool for school?! some may see me as one (but that's ok) and while i always took pride in being young for the things i've done, this article makes me a fossil of sort.
anyways, read this semi-interesting article on this andy milonakis looking kid. i think his parents need to lay off the pipe too though.

kidz in the hall x barack obama
For Immediate Release
December 3, 2007
New York City, NY
KIDZ IN THE HALL SONG PICKED FOR BARACK OBAMA CAMPAIGN
Major League Entertainment is proud to announce that KIDZ IN THE HALL’s song “Work to Do” (which will be on their upcoming March release “The In Crowd”) will also be featured as a theme song for Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. Go to www.myspace.com/kidzinthehall for a free download of “Work to Do!” And, click HERE to get an inside look at the making of the song.
Having followed Obama’s political career from its early stages, Kidz In The Hall’s MC Naledge is very excited to be a part of the movement for change. From Chicago’s Southside, to The University of Pennsylvania, Kidz In The Hall has always promoted positive change in American communities through social action. The message at the forefront of this soulful anthem is that no one should settle for less than success, because each one of us has the ability to change this world for the better.
‘Work To Do’ is not necessarily a song that was meant as a ‘campaign song’ but more so a philosophy on how to approach life in general. I happen to think that Obama embodies everything that is promising for the future of our nation and represents the hope I sought to speak on in the song. Being from Chicago, I have seen his rise to prominence first hand and I can honestly say that I believe he is the best option for our next president.”
-Naledge (Kidz In The Hall)
“We are thrilled to have been invited to be a part of this historic and meaningful race for the presidency in support of Senator Obama. Kidz In The Hall and Senator Obama both stand for hard work, focus, and honesty, while acting as advocates for those less fortunate. This song could not be a better fit.”
-Matt Marcus, President Major League Entertainment
Many thanks to the entire Obama campaign and to Todd Kane for his coordination on this project.

momofuku
to no one's surprise, one of the best things about new york city is FOOD. while there are many spots (both high end and cheap goods) i always visit, one place i would love to bring to LA is momofuku.
i love the ramen spots in new york and non deserves more props/hype than david chang's spot in east village. click on the link above for the story behind the notoriously pork friendly (and not so vegetarian) dude.
and if you know nick (diamond) or victor (red bull), they'll both vouch for how good this spot is. $15 is kind of steep for ramen but it's well worth it.
david chang is also featured in the latest GQ (men of the year issue). i love stories like this... eff you conventional mofos.

illinois vs usc
so it looks like my alma mater will be coming to pasadena to play usc for the rose bowl. nothing is more annoying (after boston's sports fans) than the usc football fans. what's even more annoying is that most of them didn't even goto usc. so unless you're a graduate of usc, do not wave that flag around town....
we beat ohio st at the horse shoe (that's columbus ohio if you dont know) so i'm confident enough that we can beat the trojans as well. time for juice williams n co to put the smack down.
