kobe bryant puts the lakers on blast
here's the much talked about video clip of kobe droppin' f bombs while calling out the lakers.
this is too funny... and for once, i agree with kobe. andrew bynum sucks. and by the time he learns how to make a left handed layup, greg oden's gonna be like 40 years old. wait, he already is. ha

starbucks in nyc
soooo i've experienced my first cancelled flight... waited at the airport (jfk) for about 9 hours until 4 am and was told the flight to chicago was cancelled. as pissed off as i was (and still am), i woke up from a friend's place this morning and came to my most frequented destination in new york, STARBUCKS.
while seeing models like alessandra ambrosio and bodybuilders like madonna at the club is cool, non made me smile more than seeing these two dudes at the starbucks i'm sitting in right now (43rd and 9th).
robin williams came in just to use the bathroom

someone probably had to clean up his mess lol
kevin's dad came in to eat some coffee cake

BTW, I NEED TO GET TO CHICAGO.... anyone got a jet??

LA cats in NYC
while i've been having a great time in new york, i've got to give a shout out to two of my fellow LA homies who were in the city as well. aside from being great guys who are fun to party with, these two individuals epitomize what success truly is.
NICK TERSHAY (diamond supply co)
- this dude runs one of the most respected brands in the skate/streetwear scene and while he shares my passion of gettin faded every night out, he also runs a tight fuckin ship that corporate mofos can take a lesson from. homie knows how to do things right and that applies to everything whether business or personal. nick's got another trick up his sleeve so all you suckers better be ready!
DJ SPIDER
- aside from being one of the sickest DJ's out there, spider is my rolldog when we jetset across the country. sundance in park city, vegas, miami, new york or wherever, i never see him in LA but we're always at some random city at the same time. spider killed it at all the hotspots in new york this past week including a night at butter where the likes of madonna, janet jackson, demi moore, ashton kutcher, shakira, and your sister were all wildin' out.
people like nick and spider are what makes this shit fun and inspiring to me... can't get any better than living your dream and making shit happen. we takin over............

just to reiterate what i was saying below
THE YOUNG IS IN CHARGE...
i've always been the youngest DJ, promoter, marketing dude but now i'm becoming more of the in between guy as i'm about to be 27 later this summer. i've always looked up to the people before me (often times much older) and because i've been lucky to have had very supportive mentors (and still do), i want to make sure i support as many younger moneymakers as i can.
so here's a list of the homies who are doing big things right now. sorry if i'm forgetting anyone but i'll try my best to remember everyone. oh, and there's an age restriction on this list (meaning these dudes are at least a year younger than me... so 25 and under)
COOL KIDS (they're on their way of becoming STARS both under and over ground... very few artists impress me and these kids got the right steez)
FLOSSTRADAMUS (no need to big them up as they blew the f up within the past year DJing around the globe twice n back)
REASON BRAND (one of my favorite streetwear brands out of NYC who are just good dudes too)
DJ JM (pictured below. dope party DJ + inviter of the underaged girls AND the kid's down with mark ronson and reason brand, so all good with me)
K. Flay (haters can hate on line but she's gettin hit up more than your moms; how many girls do you know that can produce/spit)
ORISUE (group of young dudes out of OC makin quality clothing)
if you don't know, now you know...

one week in new york city
so today makes it officially ONE WEEK of my attempt to experience what it's like to live in NYC. no, i'm not trying to be a new yorker. i've moved a few times even as a kid and feel fortunate to have had the opportunities to travel quite a bit for work. while this is like the 8th or 9th time i've been in new york, this is definitely the longest trip (11 days to be technical). instead of staying at a hotel (which is expensive) or at friends' pads (inconvenient for all parties involved.. let's be real), i decided to sublease a place. thanks to my homie aface, i got a nice spot in east village for a reasonable price (big ups to the burkharts). so after a week of "living" in new york, i have some things to share....
- i've known and met quite a few characters in my days but nyc definitely has la, chicago, sf, london or seoul beat on the variety
- i didn't realize that i need to drink an iced coffee every freakin day to function and "work" while i'm refreshing my profile on myspace all day
- i was never a good skater even when i did skate; occasionally landed a kickflip in 8th grade and while my fav. skater was chet thomas who i think shares the same bday as me (along with killa kela wtf), like i just said though, i was never that good at it. point of this was that i got to see a 1000+ kids skate on national skate day... shit was insane... me and face were on our bikes and got to ride up on 2nd ave (going the wrong direction with cars comin at you). mad tourists and even cops were snappin pics.... i had to try not to run over any kids on their skateboards but that's one of the funnest things i've ever done. google this shit (or youtube it... actually imeem it) and you'll see how nuts it was.
- i love NYC radio. funkmaster flex is my fuckin hero... forget playing music (which you can hear at a club if you really want to). there is nothing more NEW YORK than hearing flex talk SMACK live on radio for 30 min. straight. on thursday at 6:30 pm ish i was taking a shower and the whole time, flex was just talking shit with fatjoe in the studio. i think he declared on air that he was buying out the bar at china club that night (i laughed cuz i just watched MADE again... the classic flick with jon favreau, vince vaughn n diddy. if you don't know, you don't know).
- also big ups to miss info... fellow korean from chitown airing out gossip like my moms at a tea party (gossiping is something korean women are innately GREAT at by the way). so i guess 50 cent is dating ciara.
- did i mention that funkmaster flex is the shit?! LA radio needs to step up and get some real personalities up in there. fuck the boring traffic mixes... if i wanna hear bad blends, i'll get back on the turntables and fuck shit up.
- speakin of radio, support east village radio (again google that shit if you don't already know). me and spider went over to support nick catchdubs yesterday and nick himself has a little bit of funkmaster flex in him. hahah. we sang that crazy song where the dude goes, in LA we hit kitana and when we in chicago we goto benihana... fuck what haters say, benihana is still GOOD - shout out to steve hahah
- two songs that really represent new york;
brooklyn by fabolous and jay-z (biggie sample makes it what it is)
classics by nas, kanye, krs one and rakim (can't go wrong with primo)
- my favorite channel on TV... the MSG (that's madison square garden for you suckers). watchin MJ scorchin the knicks in 84 is vintage... back when he had hair + a bigger nose (my dad thinks jordan got a nose job somewhere between 85-86).
- i hate to admit this one but yes, new york does have the best food spots the world (well at least in the states). you can't beat 10 dumplings for $2 at a sweaty chinatown spot that would get a D rating if it were LA (for you non LA folks, most people cringe when they see a B health rating at a restaurant in LA)
- ok so this one might sound a little cocky but i don't give a fuck. so either at cane or tenjune (one of those meat packing district clubs), me n spider walk up to the front of the line and go, do you know who the fuck we are?! j/k we didn't say that. but anyways, the bouncer goes, you guys from LA huh. n i'm like how the fuck can you tell? and he goes, you have more exclusive shit on and points to all the deutschbags n wanna be model hos waiting outside. i think i just had a plain gray t-shirt on but ok, i'll take the compliment. no disrespect to any guidos or bridge n tunnels reading this (i have a couple of homies that qualifiy as one), but any guy that actually wears their pants on their waist or any girl that takes more than 30 minutes to put make up on will always have to wait in line. the only way those idiots get into any club is by buying bottles; which they waste on out of town girls i'm taking home anyways. J/K i got a girl.
- speakin of girls... there are a lot of 'em here. i'm not gonna lie. temptation + easy access = trouble. BUT i'm a changed man, look at the range man, i got a whole new game plan.
- by the way if you haven't, get with r kelly. same girl by kels and ush (i've never heard anyone refer to usher as USH and of course the one n only genius from chitown comes up with it). all you haters need to go buy double up (i think that's what his new album's called).
- speakin of usher, did you know that he's engaged to a 50 year old lady with 3 kids?!?!?! ok so i think she's more like 40 something but fuckin a.... if usher can settle down with an old lady with kids, who am i to ignore the babymamas...
- btw, jay-z's last album sucked but he's still fire when he's droppin a verse on other people's tracks. we don't want to hear about 40 year olds talkin about how they did this n done that. let dudes come up n stay out of their way unless you wanna come off like that old pissy dude who talks about how things were back in the day.
- which brings me to this... 30 is not the new 20. 40 is not the new 30 and as a 26 year old, i'm definitely not the new 16. as my man DJ JM (what up allido fam) says, the young is in charge. aside from being a sick party DJ, JM brings out all the high school girls to my parties (j/k they're probably in college). just to reiterate, please don't be one of those disgruntled old people hating on the younger dudes (be it a street wear brand, DJ, promoter, or one of those people like me who you see or know but have no idea wtf he or she actually does)
- which brings me to my last point... enjoy life, find inspiration and don't be afraid to share secrets/help others. if you're truly confident in your abilities, you don't worry about the next person. i want everyone reading this to be successful and happy cuz i don't want to be that dude with all the money n success but no one to share it with (not that i'm even successful right now ha). HATING IS THE MOST OBVIOUS SIGN OF WEAKNESS IN ONE. all you meanmuggin fools (whether at a club or in front of your macbooks) will never make money, get girls or be happy.
ok enough rambling (as i finish this iced coffee)... i'mma go shopping like a 14 yr old girls now.

the french are killin it rightnow
if you're reading this, i'm sure you're already aware of all the quality music coming out of the ed banger camp + re-emergence of the daft punk hyteria. and if you follow red bull's bc one, you might also be aware of the fact that the french b-boys have been on it (along with koreans).
like many, i've been kind of over the whole scratch/battle DJ thing for a minute now but my boy angelo just sent me this clip and i'm actually impressed. c2c brought the whole music element back into the art of scratchin so peep the clip and you be the judge.
never thought i'd say this but damn, the french are killin it right now!

LONDON
i'm not much of a movie buff and due to my mild case of ADD, there aren't many movies i finish (let alone recommend). and while this movie never garnered much critical acclaim or big box #'s, it's one of the few flicks from the past couple of years that i've seen more than once. a solid cast (aside from the obvious appeal with jessica biel, there is my boy dan's mancrush jason statham + decent acting done by chris evans n even dane cook)
the entire film is based around partying and all the crazy conversations you get into while you're partying. as a sidenote, the crystal method (duo i've once worked for at three artist management) did the score. watching the film again lastnight, i think i'm gonna go look for the soundtrack... it's not all techno/electronica as you'd expect but a great selection of scene supporting sounds.

LeBron James... WOW
i lived through the 80's in LA n grew up lovin magic johnson/the showtime lakers... i spent the majority of my teenage/school years in chicago watching michael jordan win his 6 championships. i now live in LA n have seen kobe do some crazy things on the offensive end.
but DAMN, what lebron did latnight against the pistons (in the playoffs mind you) is RIDICULOUS. forget that he scored the cavs' final 25 points in the game (29 out of the last 30) to win the double OT game. the variety of shots he was taking/making with all the critics on his back make what he did that much more special.... i was lucky enough to witness and watch the game from 4th quarter on last night... SICK!
