nike basketball league @ the point...

at one point, we were the only undefeated team left in the league (4-0) but we sucked ass the last few weeks and ended the season with a disappointing loss last night.

so i took a week + trip out to chitown and attended quite a few parties including flosstradamus' jump off at sub t last wednesday. all the homies were in effect and the kids were goin bananas!

i first noticed this a few months back without thinking much but when i saw him on oprah the other day, i was like WTF?!

is anyone concerned with the man's health? aside from looking wayyy too skinny, he's looking a lot more like russell these days.

floss, cool kids, kid sister, catchdubs, ...etc

so i finally made it out to a proper chicago party last night... flosstradamus holding their monthly at sub t and while i knew it was gonna jump off, i was still impressed when every dj/act had the party rockin.

even the cool kids said that's one of the best performances they've had (don't worry dudes, it'll keep gettin better!). our homie nigel (hollywood holt) was the perfect hypeman for the entire evening... i'll bring him out LA very soon so keep an eye out for the kid.

we'll get the pics n video running shortly.

chicago....

even though the weather's cold, chicago's kinda hot rightnow. by now, everyone's familiar with flosstradamus (what up curt/josh!) and just last week, we flew out the cool kids for their LA debut @ the standard (they killed cinespace the next day too). anyways, after a couple of days of late-nite partyin with the kids, i flew into chicago for a couple of meetings and to see family/friends.

first night (thursday); after dinner with the parents, i met up with my sister, schwendau and danielle to stop by debonair. mark gertz (one of my fav people in chicago) runs a weekly there with greg (kill hannah) and trancid. these dudes run the indie scene in chicago and great people too. plus i love the owners at debonair (steve, claudia n vince)... always showin family love! so in between chuggin down some shots and drinks, we went across the street to empire.

the cool kids, floss (josh), mobi, qualo and a few other familiar faces were gettin down... dope vibe. as soon as i walk in, mikey (cool kids) points out that travis from gymclassheroes was there chillin too. apparently they had a show at columbia college n he had stopped by afterwards to kick it for a bit before gettin back on the bus. we talked about djing, gear he's rockin in the video and all the talent comin out of chitown rightnow... gonna trade some tunes via AIM soon (start practicing on that serato travie!).

after both debonair n empire shut down (2am), chuck inglish (cool kids) and a couple of friends (shayna n danielle) headed to continental for some more drinks. next thing you know, we end up at a punk band's house in the middle of woods (west suburbs i was told)... some strange shit going on there but chuck n i had laughs almost hallucinating (forgot how much we drank). it was a crazy sausage fest with punk rockers who looked more like bros/frat dudes. very nice people but when we were all drinkin n smokin in the kitchen, i felt like borat with those drunk fratboys from alabama on the road. shayna's brother (forget his name) was super nice and the cd he gave us was actually good... despite their offer of me crashin there, i got my half sleepin ass to drive back (chuck had to wake me up a few times while on the road haha).

that was only the first night.....

big thanks to everyone...

we apologize if anyone reading this wasn't able to get in or had to wait forever to get a wristand. we hit capacity at around 10:30 and the standard tried to accommodate as much as they could on the rooftop but all in all, everyone seemed happy. minor glitches here and there but it was good... dan, jenni, t and the rest of the crew at standard definitely helped us out on-site.

also, gotta thank the sponsors (zune, imeem, red bull, urb, greyone, mighty healthy, diamond, and altoids) + the performers (killa kela - you killed it as always homie!, cool kids - reppin chitown, we're goin big!, them jeans - finishin the night for us, jayvon - ballin', and adam from pollyn - big ups for startin the night off right). great photos by rich kim and dope video/interviews by jen haskins too; lookout for them in the next day or two.

n last but not least the people who spent majority of the time workin their ass off so everyone can get in and have fun.... joey - dude how do you lose both of my room keys in 30min?! julie - meet my clients! haha and big ups to jerry (greyone) for holding it down with me downstairs - even the hotel staff were wondering why we wouldn't just go upstairs n have fun. we didn't take a sip of a drink til 1 am but it's all good.
