pics from last Saturday's Chitown party with Diamond Supply Co.

I was back in Chicago for Thanksgiving (aka an excuse to party) and it was a special occasion at Lava Lounge as the homies from LA/SF joined for a late night madness...  Nick (Diamond) and Mega (HUF/Blackscale) flew out for a few to enjoy the cold weather ha

"If the economy’s down, hemlines follow."

With that Louis Bag still on the wish list, and the Goyard wallet getting put on the back burner, what happens to fashion when the economy takes a beating? New York Magazine's Article, does an excellent job of looking at the bizarre contradictions of the high fashion world in an economy that is lagging (to put it lightly).

"Read about the Dow dropping 700 points in your morning Herald Tribune, then traipse off to watch Dolce & Gabbana walk gilt, brocade, and some very elaborate silk pajamas down a runway. Flip back through that paper—foreclosures, war—and then look back up, at Louis Vuitton, at a four-figure pair of shoes covered in a pop-tastic, happy-days mix of ribbons and beads. Then comes the news, just a few weeks later, that the guy who made those bedazzled clompers—Marc Jacobs—has canceled his holiday party because of the “financial climate.”

So for all you future Lagerfeld's and Mugatu's out there, might want to wait a year or two before dropping that new line.  You can read the whole article here.

Jim Jones on Jay-Z (never ending jabs)

As some of you already know, one of our fav. rappers/entertainers in the game is on the cover of Complex.  They just leaked some Q&A and quotes that didn't make print and among others were Jones' continuing mockery of Mr. Carter.  My favorite line (comparing himself vs Jay)...  "I don’t think he’s that handsome. All he has is a gorgeous flow—my momma raised a gorgeous child." CLASSIC lol

New York Knicks most valuable team in the NBA

Arguably the worst franchise in sports in terms of player personnel (esp. thanks to Stephon Marbury) is somehow the #1 in the NBA in terms of monetary value.  Not surprisingly though, Los Angeles Lakers are #2 and Chicago Bulls are #3... Click here to find out how the Knicks are valued at $613 million.

$34 billion bail out...

The Big Three US automakers are asking for a $34 billion help from Congress now (up from $25 billion they initially sought). Among the CEO's promises; Ford and GM will sell their jets + all three CEO's promised to cut their salaries to $1 a year if they get the federal loan they're seeking. I guess desperate times call for desperate measures... Read more here

Dana White x ESPN photoshoot

When UFC debuted in the 90s I didn't care for it... Everything about it seemed as corny and fake (not the fights but the sales pitch) as WWF (not E back then).  I'm not an expert on the history of UFC but from all accounts, its president Dana White seems to be the reason as to why the sport has become as popular as it is right now.  I must admit... I've been following all the big fights and those random training docs quite frequently for the past couple of years now.

The main reason why I like Dana White though (no lance bass) is that he's aggressive and confident (and will take on anyone who challenges his sport).  I call it the Kanye effect... You believe in your work/product soooo much that you convince others to buy into it sooner or later.

This is how we feel... they know.

This is an oldie but a goodie from earlier this year... This remix vid feat. Million $ Mano and Flakez got us on front pages of YAHOO and MSN (each with over 2 million plays at the time). Too lazy to track down those vids but here's the youtube version.

Not saying they copied us but the timing of it is certainly odd...

Apparently this is a mixtape project coming out next week.... Hit nahright for details.  I know for a fact some of the people involved in the 'hypeclub' project know us, get our emails and probably peep our site.  All good though because we're too busy to care.

Art Basel (Miami) kicks off....

Thanks to cold weather and bad economy, this year's Art Basel Miami looks to be slower than usual... I don't pretend to be an expert of any kind when it comes to 'art' but for those who do this is obviously the week you visit South Beach.  Couple of our friends have shows during the week (Craig Wetherby & Even Cerasoli among them) so go visit their spots if you're down there.

Prison Break Cake Ad

In promotion for the TV show Prison Break (which I hear from my friend is awesome, but she's probably only watching cuz she's crushing on the main character) an interesting approach was used to let people know about an upcoming season...putting the information on a hidden nail file baked within a cake. I'm guessing it ties in with the idea of breaking out of prison. Call me Mr. Obvious. Pics below...
