We're fated to pretend

Listen to Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi covering MGMT's "Time to Pretend" here. It's beautiful. He's beautiful.

I'll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms
I'll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world
I'll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home
Yeah, I'll miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone.

I met the Walrus

This video isn't new, but I always like to come back to it now and then. Right now seems like a really good time for another revisit.

In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan snuck into John Lennon's hotel room in Toronto and convinced him to do an interview. 38 years later, Levitan, director Josh Raskin and illustrators James Braithwaite and Alex Kurina have collaborated to create an animated short film using the original interview recording as the soundtrack.

Hudson Mohawke feat. Theophilus London

Here's a quick footage of last night's surprise guest HUDSON MOHAWKE feat. Theophilus London...

Baby dictator

I'm too tired to comprehend this right now. Because I'm sure when I'm not tired this will make perfect sense. A Danish artist dresses her daughter as infamous dictators. Below, Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein. It really bothers me how cute the baby Hitler is. It bothers me almost as much as the fact that Hitler once considered being an artist and he was a really good painter. See more baby photos here.

Texas Ranger's manager apologizes for being a coke head...

Kind of appropriate (or inappropriate) news considering that everyone and their mom is in Texas right now for SXSW... Manager of the Rangers failed a drug test last year (for cocaine, not steroids); why is a 57 year old blowing lines anyway?!  Read more here.

McCain Branding Revival

Don't worry, this isn't for a 2012 presidential campaign. After getting out branded (thanks in part to Shepard Fairey) by the Obama campaign in '08, McCain is scrapping the old logo for something a little friendlier for his 2010 Senate bid. A good call, Optima never looked good to me, only one who can really pull of that font is YSL (which is highly altered) . . . maybe Nordstrom.

Predator 2010 Remake

Its probably the kid in me that thinks this is cool but considering that the original Predator pulled a revenue of $98 million, it should be exciting to see how well a remake can do. Enjoy the trailer.

Hello from Below

I'm digging these pieces... "Hello From Below" in the streets of Jacksonville Florida.

Flashback - 1 year ago - Creme De La Creme SXSW

A year goes by fast, for me this was definitely the apex of my 2009 year, and I really have no doubt that it will be again. There was line wrapped around the block during sound check, people standing on e-boxes outside just to get a glimpse of the action and around 20 artists in 4 hours. This year we're gonna up the ante, but here is a highlight reel of last year.

Rey Maualuga on Erin Andrews... LOL

How did I miss this video?! Too funny... We're a fan of Erin Andrews and obviously so are the Trojans.

Gilbert Arenas x Esquire Mag

I've always liked Esquire's "What I've Learned" sections.  Very quick and to the point style of interview that really gets to the core of issues fast, and doesn't beat around the bush.  This one was pretty interesting, and it featured the gunslinger Gilbert Arenas and this thoughts on the situation that transpired a few months back.

It's like I told David Stern: Anything that happens in my life, I'm always looking to see, What can I make funny out of this? But I said, I know you need to set an example. He said he wasn't trying to make me an example. He said, "I know your personality. I've got to get you out of the limelight because you're not gonna let it go. When you come back, then we build." We talked about it for three minutes, and then for the rest of the time he told me about what he wants to do with the league.

The National "High Violet"

I'm so excited for The National's new album "High Violet" to come out. We'll still have to wait until May 11th but in the meantime they've dropped the CD cover and the tracklist to entice us with. Next comes song leaks? Check out the tracks and the album art at The Music Slut. She included one of my favorite tracks by them "Fake Empire" for you to enjoy with the post so make sure you take a listen.

What Happened to You? - Neve Campbell Edition (NSFW)

I could be mistaken, but the last thing I think anybody really remembers her in was Wild Things (that's really the only thing i remember her in . . . maybe Scream, but Party of Five was before my time). And to go along with the girl on girl motif from last week, the video below should bring back some fond memories of the now missing actress. Enjoy the stroll down memory lane.
